ADAS CALIBRATION

Static & Dynamic Vehicle Calibration Provided by Jerry's Paint and Body Shop!

ADAS calibration services

We are now doing Static and Dynamic calibrations for cars and trucks whether it's a windshield or bumpers on all the vehicles that require one.

There are currently two common calibration methods for camera and radar system: Firstly, Dynamic Calibration, where the vehicle is calibrated during the test drive. Secondly, Static Calibration, where the vehicle is calibrated while stationary using a target board. In this article we will go through the differences between these approaches and their advantages and disadvantages.

Let's begin with dynamic calibration. Dynamic calibration refers to a test drive that is initiated beforehand with a diagnostic device. It is often claimed that driver assistance systems calibrate themselves. This is not completely untrue, but some factors need to be separated.

Every assistance system can adjust its parameters to the current conditions. Since this process happens while driving, it is often thought of as "self-calibration" which is not true.
Assistance systems can adjust small settings on their own. However, these adjustments can only be made in a specific tolerance range determined by the manufacturer. The actual default setting is always used during calibration.

In dynamic calibration, basic parameters are checked and stored if plausible. These stored parameters serve as the basis for further adaptations that the system can make if needed. One disadvantage of dynamic calibration is that the calibration drive cannot be done under unfavorable road conditions such as heavy traffic or bad weather. An advantage is that no special tools need to be used apart from the diagnostic device itself.

Static calibration serves the same purpose as dynamic calibration. With the help of target boards, a test picture is presented to the camera which will be scanned. If the determined parameters fall within tolerance, the new default setting will be saved. A disadvantage of the static calibration is the acquisition costs and the required space. An advantage is that it can be done in every weather and traffic condition.

What does it mean for you?
After a windscreen replacement, camera systems must be calibrated to ensure that driver assistance systems work reliable and properly. Special diagnostic systems are necessary for professional calibration - no matter if it is dynamic or static.

Service Fee:

  • Dynamic: $129.99
  • Static: as low as $250.00

What our clients are saying about us

We have established longterm and stable partnerships with various clients thanks to our excellence in solving their automotive needs!

Long and dreadful story short, my car was crushed like a can. While Jerry's informed me that it couldn't be fixed, he was extremely understanding and kind. He waived the overhead fees that had built up stress in my head. I feel out of all the bad that has happened, at least Jerry's was one good experience. I couldn't recommend better service than this. quotes-image
